Responsibilities

  • Design, analyze, program, integrate, test, and deploy train control system software.
  • Define missions and functions, design architectures, develop algorithms, and refine software requirements.
  • Design, code, debug, test, review, and troubleshoot software solutions.
  • Develop and execute software test procedures, participate in design reviews, and review code quality and test results.
  • Analyze defects, implement corrective actions, and investigate issues in field environments.
  • Collaborate with Systems Engineering to maintain software consistency, architectural compliance, and component refinement.
  • Support cost estimates, work package management, technical delivery, continuous improvement, training, leadership, and mentoring activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in software design, development, integration, testing, deployment, and URS systems.
  • Senior-level experience developing mission-critical or near-real-time software using C++, including templates, STL, and MFC.
  • Experience with object-oriented programming, multithreading, socket programming, general Windows programming, and Windows and Linux platforms.
  • Strong software development, engineering, troubleshooting, field-log analysis, and event-correlation skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio, software simulation environments, source control, IDEs, and requirements management tools.
  • Experience with C# and scripting languages such as Perl, Python, or Ruby is an asset.
  • Knowledge of railway signaling systems, particularly SelTrac CBTC.
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation is preferred.
