Responsibilities
- Design and ship moderate to complex backend features with minimal guidance.
- Influence technical direction, team objectives, architecture, and long-range goals.
- Define backend standards for maintainability, testing, APIs, security, performance, and operational readiness.
- Mentor associate and intermediate engineers, remove technical blockers, and participate in code and design reviews.
- Diagnose and prevent performance and reliability issues at scale and participate in incident response.
- Build, operate, evaluate, and promote responsible use of agentic AI systems in production.
Requirements
- Strong command of backend architecture, APIs, data systems, and performance tuning in complex products or services.
- Proficiency in modern backend languages and strong understanding of systems programming.
- Experience designing or evolving modular backend boundaries, bounded contexts, and migration-safe architectures.
- Ability to lead through influence, technical judgment, and clear written communication.
- Proven production experience building or operating agentic systems, including loops, tool use, and error-handling strategies.
- Helpful experience includes high-throughput distributed systems, concurrency, profiling, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, schema evolution, partitioning, modular monoliths, event-driven systems, public technical communication, open-source maintenance, or developer-focused SaaS.
