Responsibilities

  • Define flight software architectures for robust, real-time, safety-critical systems.
  • Collaborate on software requirements, architectures, and designs and lead verification activities.
  • Oversee development of fault-tolerant flight software for autonomous spacecraft command and control.
  • Integrate software components, create and run unit tests, validate systems using Hardware-in-the-Loop, and release real-time embedded solutions.
  • Lead technical documentation for architecture, design, and verification plans.
  • Communicate project progress, status, and risks to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Implement and maintain agile project management practices throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 15+ years of experience in mission-critical software development, preferably in aerospace; equivalent education and experience may be considered.
  • Experience designing, deploying, and supporting flight control systems or systems of similar complexity.
  • Experience developing real-time embedded systems across design, analysis, development, implementation, integration, verification, qualification, and release.
  • Experience with build automation, continuous integration, configuration management, software verification, and deployment.
  • Familiarity with embedded architectures, including bare-metal and RTOS-based systems.
  • Understanding of Real-Time Operating Systems and C, C++, and Rust for safety-critical systems.
  • Familiarity with flight software for spacecraft, launch vehicles, UAVs, or avionics.
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP and UDP network protocols; spacecraft communications protocol experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of redundancy management and high-reliability architectures.
  • Exposure to software development in Linux environments.
  • Experience supporting aerospace or defense programs.
  • Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation and provide proof of U.S. citizenship or U.S. permanent residency.
  • Must be willing to work evenings and weekends as needed for critical project milestones.
