Base Salary
$190k - $322k/yr
Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and hands-on implementation across cloud infrastructure, backend services and APIs, and data platforms.
- Design engineering patterns for APIs, service boundaries, data contracts, deployment models, observability, and operational reliability.
- Design data ingestion, event-driven, stream-processing, batch-processing, and governed data-access platforms.
- Lead architecture and design reviews for cross-team initiatives and guide technical tradeoffs.
- Establish standards for infrastructure as code, CI/CD, automated testing, versioning, documentation, and service operability.
- Partner with infrastructure, product, quality, and security teams to meet business, operational, and regulatory requirements.
- Mentor engineers and improve design and implementation standards across teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in software engineering, data platforms, and related functions.
- Deep experience building complex systems across cloud infrastructure, backend services and APIs, data processing systems, and platform engineering.
- Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages such as Go, Python, or Java.
- Strong experience designing and operating APIs and backend services with contracts, versioning, backward compatibility, documentation, authentication, authorization, and observability.
- Strong AWS cloud-native development and platform-engineering experience, including infrastructure automation, environment design, deployment patterns, and security controls.
- Experience with GitLab CI, automated build and test pipelines, artifact publication, release automation, and production deployments.
- Experience with Terraform or similar infrastructure-as-code tools and reusable platform patterns.
- Experience with data ingestion, event-driven systems, and stream or batch processing using technologies such as Kafka, Spark, Flink, or Airflow.
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases such as Postgres and DynamoDB, including data modeling and transactional system design.
- Understanding of unit, integration, and end-to-end testing, traceability, reliability, incident response, and operational support.
- Ability to influence technical direction across multiple teams and mentor engineers.
- Preferred experience with medical devices or other regulated industries and with defining and implementing data privacy requirements.
