Infrastructure Engineer focused on Observability and GCP

Responsibilities
- Launch projects through hands-on implementation, evaluate existing infrastructure, and drive improvements.
- Explore client needs and collaborate on technical roadmaps and impactful solutions.
- Help shape Thoughtworks’ cloud and infrastructure practice through collaboration with technical, business development, marketing, and capability development teams.
- Build controls and processes for continuous delivery and infrastructure and application evolution, driving automation throughout the process.
- Monitor projects and ensure technical expectations for deliverables are consistently met.
- Provide expertise and guidance in DevOps, cloud, platform, and infrastructure engineering for internal and client teams.
- Build trusting partnerships with client engineering leadership.
- Recommend innovative solutions to address technical constraints and business policies.
Requirements
- Experience designing and implementing enterprise or web-scale hosting platforms using Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Ability to administer application servers, web servers, and databases.
- Experience with software delivery teams, DevOps philosophies, Agile methods, and Infrastructure as Code.
- Experience with monitoring and observability systems, including Grafana.
- Understanding of telemetry attributes and observability semantic conventions.
- Deep understanding of cloud and virtualization platforms, infrastructure automation, and application hosting technologies.
- Experience with at least one IaaS cloud platform and two or more application runtime platforms, including physical servers, virtual servers, container clusters, serverless, or databases.
- Ability to write scripts in at least one scripting language and build Linux servers, Windows servers, or container clusters.
- Experience with continuous integration and continuous delivery tools across different technology stacks.
- Understanding of infrastructure vulnerabilities, secrets management, network security, and software supply chain security.
- Strong English communication skills and ability to collaborate with diverse, multinational teams.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts to nontechnical audiences and partner with infrastructure, support, network, security, systems administration, and IT leadership teams.
- Experience with unit testing, automated testing, stress testing, or performance testing is preferred.
