Base Salary
$65k - $187k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of end-to-end COBOL mainframe application solutions.
- Serve as the technical authority for application architecture, design patterns, and integration approaches.
- Review and approve technical designs, code changes, and data integration logic.
- Develop and oversee COBOL components and applications while guiding performance and maintainability practices.
- Collaborate with product owners and business analysts to translate requirements into high- and low-level technical designs.
- Ensure timely delivery of features, enhancements, and defect fixes while promoting disciplined change and release practices.
- Mentor developers and junior team members and provide technical guidance to colleagues.
- Align business strategy with software solutions and lead complex problem solving.
Requirements
- 12+ years of software engineering experience with deep hands-on development expertise and proven technical leadership in mainframe/COBOL environments.
- Familiarity with Endevor, mainframe DB2 database concepts, CICS, and VSAM files.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, specification-writing, communication, and technical troubleshooting abilities.
- Ability to work with business and operations stakeholders to understand requirements and create high- and low-level designs.
- Ability to learn technologies not previously familiar and explain technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree; a comparable combination of education, job-specific certifications, and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Preferred: strong knowledge of the debit card product lifecycle and experience in financial services or other highly regulated industries.
- Preferred: experience using z/OS Connect to build and maintain REST APIs.
