Responsibilities
- Define and influence the direction of a small Command and Control Software team using expertise in path planning and route optimization.
- Prototype and deploy algorithms for global and local path planning, trajectory optimization, and multi-agent coordination.
- Develop high-performance real-time C2 software for mission planning, autonomous tasking, and unmanned-platform routing.
- Design planners, search algorithms, and decision-making systems for safe and optimal routes in dynamic and contested environments.
- Analyze planner performance with high-fidelity simulations, modeling tools, and statistical techniques.
- Customize algorithms and software for collaborative autonomy, asset routing, obstacle avoidance, and threat avoidance.
- Integrate path-planning technologies into the C2 software lifecycle from requirements through testing and optimization.
- Communicate technical progress to colleagues, operators, and end users.
Requirements
- Proficiency in algorithm design, software development, mathematical modeling, C/C++, Python, and Matlab.
- Strong knowledge of graph-based, sampling-based, lattice-based, or grid-based path planners, including A*, D* Lite, RRT, RRT*, and PRM.
- Experience with GNC, trajectory optimization, predictive vehicle-dynamics models, 6-DoF simulation, intercept analysis, or weapon-system effectiveness.
- Understanding of linear algebra, optimization, computational geometry, and graph theory.
- Knowledge of vehicle dynamics, kinematic constraints, and control theory for autonomous ground, air, or maritime platforms.
- Familiarity with map representations, terrain reasoning, and large-scale geospatial and environmental data in distributed C2 architectures.
- Background in machine learning for planning and decision-making, including reinforcement learning, learned heuristics, or behavior prediction.
- Ability to build robust planning systems for uncertainty, multi-agent coordination, and complex dynamic environments.
- Demonstrated ability to take systems from prototyping through production optimization.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Top Secret security clearance.
