Responsibilities
- Drive the evolution of the Trellis design system during HubSpot’s 2026 UI modernization.
- Build and expose a scalable component library for product teams with high standards for visual quality, performance, consistency, and accessibility.
- Define Trellis’s accessibility capability model, including controls, toggles, and reusable patterns.
- Develop internal tooling for testing and iterating on theme and style changes at scale.
- Develop migration tooling, codemods, automated refactoring pipelines, and coding-agent workflows to move Canvas applications to Trellis.
- Design practical component-library APIs and abstractions for engineers and designers.
- Write, debug, review, and ship production code while leading complex initiatives from concept through rollout.
- Mentor Staff and Senior engineers and provide organization-wide thought leadership on frontend craft.
- Partner with engineering leads, PMs, and UX to align frontend direction with the product roadmap.
Requirements
- 14+ years of software engineering experience with a track record of Principal-scope impact on critical business and customer needs.
- Deep expertise in React, TypeScript, modern JavaScript frameworks, frontend architecture, and infrastructure.
- Experience with modern component libraries and tooling, including Base UI and StyleX, plus Cloudflare Workers-based theme deployment infrastructure.
- Experience developing and shipping a production design system used at scale.
- A hands-on builder mindset with experience leading through writing, debugging, reviewing, and shipping code.
- Fluency with AI coding agents and a perspective on their impact on frontend development at scale.

- Annual cash compensation is listed as $266,200–$425,900 USD, including base salary, eligible on-target commission, and bonus targets; some roles may also receive equity or overtime pay.
