Responsibilities
- Establish engineering best practices and patterns and promote engineering excellence across the team.
- Drive high-impact projects and scalable system designs for complex features from ideation through launch.
- Build foundational infrastructure, APIs, and orchestration layers connecting Lyft with AI ecosystems, devices, third-party agents, and multimodal interfaces.
- Write well-tested, readable, maintainable code and participate in code reviews.
- Mentor engineers by providing technical guidance and supporting their growth.
- Participate in on-call rotation and identify, triage, debug, and resolve application and platform issues.
- Explain technical tradeoffs and manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
Requirements
- BS/MS or equivalent practical experience in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of software engineering or production infrastructure industry experience.
- Experience with Python and Go.
- Experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure, distributed systems, and databases such as PostgreSQL or DynamoDB.
- Proficiency using AI tools such as Copilot, Claude Code, or Cursor to accelerate coding and engineering workflows.
- Proficiency in object-oriented programming and experience with data structures or algorithms.
- Ability to work collaboratively and cross-functionally.
- Bonus: experience with LLM orchestration such as LangChain, vector databases, or APIs for conversational agents.
