Responsibilities
- Design, develop, deploy, and maintain enterprise APIs using Google Apigee.
- Develop and manage Apigee API proxies, shared flows, policies, reusable integration components, and backend integrations.
- Implement API security, authentication, authorization, access control, traffic management, rate limiting, quotas, caching, and fault handling.
- Manage API products, developer applications, environments, deployments, versioning, and API lifecycle activities.
- Build scalable Python applications, RESTful APIs, backend services, reusable modules, integration libraries, automation scripts, and data transformation components.
- Implement asynchronous processing, exception handling, logging, monitoring, performance optimization, retries, timeouts, idempotency, resilience, and backward compatibility.
- Use AI-powered coding agents for code generation, refactoring, debugging, testing, code reviews, and technical documentation.
- Design prompts and workflows for AI coding agents and validate AI-generated code for correctness, security, performance, maintainability, and compliance.
- Integrate AI-assisted development practices into software engineering workflows and CI/CD pipelines.
- Develop unit, integration, and API tests and troubleshoot API proxy, backend connectivity, latency, and end-to-end integration issues.
- Participate in technical design discussions, code reviews, architectural decisions, continuous improvement, and engineering best-practice initiatives.
- Collaborate with architects, developers, security teams, and business stakeholders, while mentoring engineers and supporting developer productivity.
Requirements
- At least 9 years of experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with Google Apigee API development, API management, API proxy development, policies, shared flows, and backend integrations.
- Strong Python programming skills covering application development, debugging, testing, and performance optimization.
- Experience with AI-powered coding agents such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or equivalent agentic development tools.
- Understanding of API security, authentication, authorization, access control, enterprise integration patterns, OAuth 2.0, JWT, API keys, traffic management, rate limiting, quotas, caching, and API governance.
- Experience designing, developing, and managing RESTful APIs and integration services.
- Experience with Python frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask, or Django.
- Understanding of REST, HTTP protocols, JSON/XML payloads, synchronous and asynchronous integration patterns, retries, timeouts, and error handling.
- Ability to independently troubleshoot complex issues across API gateways, backend services, and multiple integration layers.
- Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and software development best practices.
- Ability to assess and validate AI-generated code for quality, security, performance, and maintainability.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
- Familiarity with Apigee X or Apigee Hybrid, Google Cloud Platform, and cloud-native application development is advantageous.
- Exposure to Docker, Kubernetes, microservices, containerized application development, MCP, tool calling, agentic AI workflows, automated security scanning, API observability, performance testing, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins is beneficial.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, collaboration, independent decision-making, and enterprise delivery skills.
