Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, and Engineers to deliver high-quality software.
- Plan, design, and implement improvements to Fleetio’s public API, webhooks, and Developer Portal.
- Design and architect scalable API and product features.
- Deliver well-tested, maintainable, and performant code.
- Research and implement prototypes and technical spikes to validate assumptions.
- Review peer code, share knowledge, and guide API design practices across Fleetio.
- Set and uphold API standards, including consistency and documentation.
- Improve developer experience through documentation, examples, sandbox environments, and tooling.
- Prepare the API for safe use by AI assistants and agents.
- Support customers and integration partners and participate in the on-call rotation for APIs, webhooks, and integrations.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience with Ruby on Rails.
- 2+ years of experience with ReactJS and TypeScript.
- Experience building full-stack web-based systems and features.
- Experience designing, building, and maintaining public APIs, including authentication such as OAuth, versioning, rate limiting, and documentation such as OpenAPI.
- Experience with webhooks, event-driven systems, or third-party integrations.
- Experience working closely with product teams to architect solutions.
- Strong attention to detail in API design, consistency, and documentation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience writing unit, integration, and API tests.
- Experience with developer portals, SDKs, or AI tooling is a plus.
