Base Salary
$156k - $195k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain platform tooling, automation, shared services, and backend systems that improve engineering efficiency and reliability.
- Improve logging, monitoring, alerting, dashboards, diagnostics, production readiness, and deployment safety across backend services.
- Partner with product engineering, infrastructure, and platform teams to address platform gaps, operational bottlenecks, and scalability challenges.
- Build internal tools, workflows, CLIs, and automation supporting development, testing, deployment, and service operations.
- Support service hardening, migrations, modernization, incident response, postmortems, and reliability improvement initiatives.
- Write maintainable, well-tested code and participate in code reviews and technical design discussions.
Requirements
- 5+ years of software engineering experience, including meaningful experience with backend systems, platform engineering, infrastructure engineering, or developer tooling.
- Strong programming experience in at least one backend language such as Java, Kotlin, Go, or Python.
- Understanding of distributed systems, service architecture, APIs, production operations, software testing, deployment safety, and platform engineering fundamentals.
- Experience operating services in cloud-native environments using AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes.
- Hands-on experience with observability, reliability, deployment tooling, logging, monitoring, alerting, CI/CD systems, and incident response workflows.
- Working knowledge of infrastructure-as-code and declarative tooling such as Terraform, Helm, or Kustomize.
- Experience with platform security engineering, including Kubernetes security, container hardening, IAM, policy enforcement, or cloud security controls.
- Experience using AI-assisted development workflows and tools to improve software delivery, code quality, debugging, testing, or operational efficiency.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or a related field and relevant industry experience; equivalent practical experience is also welcome.
- Bonus qualifications include experience with high-availability systems, zero-downtime migrations, Kafka/MSK, Kinesis, SQS, GitHub Actions, workflow automation, Wiz, Semgrep, and legacy backend modernization.
