Base Salary
$140k - $170k/yr
Responsibilities
- Define statistically rigorous validation metrics and performance benchmarks for camera, LiDAR, radar, and sensor-fusion perception systems.
- Build and maintain scalable automated regression testing pipelines for real-world and synthetic datasets.
- Oversee high-fidelity ground-truth generation using automated labeling tools, offline perception models, and manual curation.
- Identify and catalog challenging edge cases, sensor degradations, and long-tail anomalies.
- Partner with the Perception ML team to investigate validation failures and trace issues to data or algorithmic causes.
- Collaborate with simulation engineers to develop sensor models and synthetic scenarios for real-world validation.
- Produce verification and validation reports supporting safety cases, regulatory compliance, and software release readiness.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
- At least 2 years of professional experience in testing, validation, or development of robotics/autonomous systems or computer vision models.
- Strong proficiency in Python, particularly NumPy, Pandas, and Pytest, and/or C++.
- Experience manipulating and visualizing large-scale datasets, querying data with SQL or data lakes, and applying statistical methods to evaluate model performance.
- Understanding of computer vision, deep learning, and spatial geometry including 3D transformations and coordinate frames.
- Preferred: experience with ROS or ROS2.
- Preferred: familiarity with AWS, GCP, Azure, Docker, or Kubernetes.
- Preferred: experience with PyTorch and machine learning validation tools.
- Preferred: understanding of ISO 26262 or ISO 21448/SOTIF functional safety standards.
- Preferred: experience with Jenkins or GitHub CI automated testing pipelines.
