Responsibilities
- Design and enhance VOD encoding and processing workflows and the supporting platform ecosystem.
- Build automation tools, scripts, dashboards, reporting systems, and data visualizations for operational insights.
- Develop monitoring, alerting, and auto-remediation systems for VOD processing infrastructure.
- Improve the reliability, scalability, performance, and efficiency of video processing operations.
- Partner with development, Product, Engineering, Operations, and other stakeholders on features, architecture, troubleshooting, and optimization.
- Lead proof-of-concept projects and evaluate new encoding technologies and methodologies.
- Define metrics and translate business requirements into reliable reporting solutions.
- Provide technical guidance, mentorship, training, and workflow guidance to internal and external teams.
- Document workflows, standard operating procedures, and technical specifications.
Requirements
- At least 10 years of progressively complex related experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
- Experience designing and building VOD processing and encoding workflows using on-premises and cloud-based solutions.
- Deep knowledge of video codecs and compression, including H.264/AVC, H.265/HEVC, and AV1.
- Knowledge of audio codecs and containers, including AAC, PCM, AC-3, E-AC-3, and Dolby Atmos.
- Strong to advanced experience with FFmpeg, MP4Box, and MediaInfo.
- Extensive knowledge of ABR/OTT technologies including HLS, DASH, and CMAF.
- Expert understanding of video fundamentals such as resolution, frame rates, color spaces, and HDR.
- Comfort working with Mac, Linux, and Windows command-line environments.
- Advanced scripting experience with Python, Bash, and Ruby.
- Experience building automation tools, dashboards, reporting systems, data visualizations, and metrics platforms.
- Experience with cloud platforms, containerization, and programmatic API communication.
- Experience with AWS or GCP and Docker or Kubernetes.
- Experience writing technical documentation for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work independently across video and IT domains and act as a technical lead.
- Preferred experience with backend and frontend UI development and general-purpose programming languages such as Python, Java, and JavaScript.
- Preferred familiarity with React, Vue, quality control systems, automated content verification, CI/CD pipelines, DAI, machine learning/AI, DRM, and SQL or NoSQL databases.
