Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Lead a portfolio of technology projects and teams of developers building distributed microservices and full-stack systems.
- Design and implement large-scale, distributed, cloud-native systems with high reliability and performance requirements.
- Provide technical leadership across multiple teams and shape system architecture, platform roadmaps, and long-term technology direction.
- Collaborate with product managers, architects, and product leaders to deliver cloud-based solutions and shared services.
- Mentor engineering community members and senior engineers while driving professional development.
- Lead architectural design reviews, establish coding standards and design patterns, and influence enterprise-wide technical standards.
- Implement observability and reliability practices and use them to identify and optimize performance bottlenecks.
- Lead cross-functional engineering efforts and large-scale technical initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related quantitative field such as Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, or Engineering.
- At least 6 years of software engineering experience; internship experience does not apply.
- At least 3 years of experience with public cloud platforms, cloud-based productivity tools, or virtualization technologies.
- Preferred experience includes 9+ years coding with multiple listed languages, 5+ years with open-source frameworks and front-end JavaScript or TypeScript frameworks, and 5+ years creating synchronous and asynchronous APIs.
- Preferred experience includes database systems, cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, automated testing frameworks, Git-based version control, and troubleshooting cloud environments.
- Preferred experience includes mentoring senior engineers, observability, distributed-system performance optimization, architectural design reviews, coding standards, reliability practices, and portfolio-level technology strategy.
- Experience with modern AI-based coding tools, interactive AI productivity tooling, cross-functional engineering efforts, or large-scale technical initiatives is preferred.
- A master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred.

- The posting lists location-dependent full-time annual salary ranges for Cambridge and McLean of $229,900-$262,400 and Richmond of $209,000-$238,500.
