Staff Platform Engineer

Responsibilities
- Set the technical direction and architecture for the agentic AI platform, including long-running sessions, real-time messaging, autonomous tool execution, and cost-efficient scaling.
- Build and operate cloud infrastructure, deployment systems, Kubernetes environments, infrastructure-as-code, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Define SLOs, develop observability practices, lead incident response and post-mortems, and improve reliability and on-call sustainability.
- Partner with AI engineering on model serving, inference optimization, GPU and compute capacity, vendor management, and infrastructure unit economics.
- Implement security, IAM, secrets management, network segmentation, vulnerability management, supply-chain security, and healthcare compliance controls.
- Partner with Product, AI/ML, Data, Security, and Legal while mentoring engineers and growing the platform engineering function.
Requirements
- 8+ years of software or infrastructure engineering experience, including 4+ years in a senior IC or technical leadership role on a Platform, SRE, or DevOps team.
- Deep production experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure and hands-on experience with Kubernetes and infrastructure-as-code such as Terraform or Pulumi.
- Experience with CI/CD tooling such as GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, or Spinnaker.
- Strong programming skills in at least one of Go, Python, or TypeScript.
- Demonstrated success scaling production infrastructure through a significant growth inflection, product expansion, or architectural migration.
- Experience designing for high availability, zero-downtime releases, graceful degradation, and regulated or data-intensive environments.
- Strong security fundamentals and broad infrastructure ownership in an early-stage or high-growth startup.
- Preferred experience includes production AI/ML workloads, model serving, inference optimization, GPU infrastructure, vector databases, large-scale data pipelines, agentic AI systems, messaging infrastructure, regulated industries, FHIR or HL7, and growing Platform or SRE teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
