Responsibilities
- Perform ticket-based software builds, packaging, deployments, and activations on critical and non-critical Linux systems.
- Maintain and evolve automated unattended installation and provisioning solutions using AutoYaST, Kickstart, Orcharhino, and PXE/TFTP.
- Create and maintain build, packaging, and deployment implementations for software and data releases and patches.
- Maintain a common baseline for automation tools and scripts and support software configuration and change-management processes.
- Support developers and delivery partners with build and versioning strategies and advise incoming projects on delivery requirements.
- Assess delivery documentation and acceptance-test materials and produce documentation for transition into routine operations.
- Resolve anomaly reports, handle file-copy and storage requests across security domains, and provide user support for service tooling.
Requirements
- At least five years of relevant professional experience in build, deployment, software configuration management, or related work.
- Master’s degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, or equivalent proven experience.
- Strong knowledge of Unix/Linux command-line tools and automated Linux installation using AutoYaST, Kickstart, Orcharhino, and PXE/TFTP.
- Experience with Ansible, build tools such as Ant, Maven, autoconf/automake, and make, and version-control systems such as SVN, Git, and GitLab.
- Experience with software packaging formats including RPM, PKG, LPP, tgz, ZIP, and DEB.
- Scripting experience with Bash, Ksh, Csh, Perl, and Python, plus familiarity with C/C++, C#, and Java.
- Experience administering and troubleshooting distributed systems and VMware virtualization in large-scale operational or production environments with high-availability requirements.
- Knowledge of security principles, hardening, secure architecture and protocols, penetration testing, and vulnerability-testing tools.
- Container, database, network-service, high-availability, cluster-software, or distributed-file-system experience is advantageous.
- Strong technical documentation, written and verbal English communication, analytical problem-solving, autonomy, interpersonal awareness, and multicultural teamwork skills.
