Responsibilities
- Define and drive the architecture, design, and evolution of embedded software systems and platforms for medical diagnostic instruments.
- Lead secure, scalable, reliable, and maintainable architectures spanning firmware, real-time processing, device control, communication, diagnostics, and system integration.
- Translate product requirements into architectural solutions covering component decomposition, interfaces, technology selection, and dependency management.
- Lead architecture, design, and code reviews to ensure technical quality, consistency, and compliance with product objectives.
- Collaborate with hardware, firmware, systems, mechanical, verification and validation, quality, regulatory, product, and global R&D teams.
- Drive architectural decisions, establish engineering standards, mentor engineers, resolve complex technical challenges, and influence technical direction and roadmaps.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, Embedded Systems, or a related field.
- 14+ years of experience in embedded software development, firmware engineering, systems architecture, or related technical roles.
- Expertise architecting and developing complex embedded systems using C/C++, including software architecture, object-oriented design, design patterns, system-level engineering, interface design, and architectural trade-off analysis.
- Deep understanding of embedded and real-time systems, including RTOS, multithreading, synchronization, interrupt handling, memory management, performance optimization, and deterministic system behavior.
- Hands-on experience with UART, SPI, I²C, CAN, USB, Ethernet, TCP/IP, and similar communication and networking protocols.
- Demonstrated technical leadership in cross-functional product development, including mentoring, architectural decision-making, stakeholder influence, analytical problem-solving, and communication.
- Preferred experience with medical devices, IVD platforms, laboratory automation, scientific instrumentation, regulated industries, safety-critical instrument control, sensors, motors, pumps, valves, measurement systems, fault tolerance, risk controls, recovery mechanisms, and legacy-system modernization.
- Preferred knowledge of medical device standards and cybersecurity requirements, including IEC 62304 and ISO 14971.
