Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate production AI agents for high-volume revenue cycle management email workflows.
- Develop agent harnesses supporting tool use, structured workflows, context management, human escalation, retries, and reliable execution.
- Build backend services and APIs using Python and FastAPI.
- Create React and JavaScript interfaces for operations teams.
- Design PostgreSQL schemas and data pipelines for workflow state, auditability, analytics, and agent performance.
- Integrate agents with email systems, internal services, healthcare workflows, and third-party platforms.
- Build evaluation frameworks measuring accuracy, resolution rate, escalation rate, latency, and cost.
- Establish monitoring, alerting, reporting, safeguards, and reliability improvements for business-critical workflows.
- Investigate production failures and improve system reliability.
- Collaborate directly with RCM operators and customers to convert workflow feedback into product improvements.
- Own projects from problem definition through implementation, deployment, and measurable production impact.
- Help establish the engineering culture as the Rio team grows.
Requirements
- Professional experience building and operating production software systems.
- Strong Python proficiency and experience developing APIs and services with FastAPI.
- Strong full-stack development skills using React and JavaScript or TypeScript.
- Experience designing data models and production systems with PostgreSQL.
- Hands-on experience with LLMs, AI agents, or agent harnesses, including tool calling, orchestration, context management, evaluations, retries, and human-in-the-loop workflows.
- Understanding of production engineering practices including testing, observability, alerting, incident response, and system reliability.
- Experience with containers and cloud infrastructure such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Ability to move quickly while maintaining correctness, maintainability, and user experience.
- Strong product judgment, ownership, communication, and stakeholder collaboration skills.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Preferred experience with email agents, support automation, workflow engines, asynchronous processing systems, LLM product evaluation systems, healthcare revenue cycle workflows, auditability, security, data privacy, and high-volume distributed systems.
