Base Salary
$129k - $194k/yr
Responsibilities
- Deliver modern software capabilities and improve architectures, platforms, developer workflows, and engineering practices.
- Design and integrate backend services and APIs for mission workflows and downstream consumers.
- Build and operate ETL/ELT data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, validation, and publishing.
- Develop data models, SQL, database access patterns, migrations, and data-quality strategies using PostgreSQL and MongoDB.
- Implement Docker and Kubernetes deployments and troubleshoot containerized environments.
- Engineer DevSecOps and CI/CD pipelines with security and quality gates.
- Provision and manage Linux environments with Terraform and Ansible for reproducible deployments.
- Contribute to cloud-native architecture across AWS and Azure, including event-driven and distributed systems.
- Create design documents, RFCs, runbooks, and architecture reviews; support incident response, observability, compliance, and post-incident learning.
- Mentor engineers and improve technical standards through code reviews and design sessions.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree, or 3 years with a master’s degree, or relevant PhD experience, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Strong Python development experience with modern software engineering practices.
- Experience building distributed systems in AWS or multi-cloud environments.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, DevSecOps, CI/CD pipelines, RESTful APIs, and data pipelines.
- Familiarity with PostgreSQL or MongoDB, Linux environments, Terraform, and Ansible.
- Experience with React, JavaScript, and HTML/CSS.
- Ability to work in Agile development environments and maintain strong technical documentation.
- Ability to access and work in classified environments as needed.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Top Secret U.S. government security clearance and U.S. citizenship for clearance eligibility.
- Preferred qualifications include an advanced technical degree; experience with NIST 800-171 or NIST 800-53 compliance, AWS data platforms, Airflow, Kafka, AWS CDK, Splunk, AFSIM, production operations, incident response, and agentic development tools such as Codex, ChatGPT, Cursor, or Windsurf.
- Preferred qualifications include an active Secret U.S. government security clearance.
