Responsibilities
- Define and drive the long-term technical strategy, architecture, and roadmap for AV HIL software platforms and integration services.
- Lead the design and evolution of scalable, reliable, observable, and hardware-aware HIL capabilities for AV software validation.
- Establish technical standards for platform services, APIs, service reliability, test automation, performance, and operational excellence.
- Own complex technical problems spanning AV software, AI models, vehicle hardware, infrastructure, middleware, operating systems, and deployment pipelines.
- Translate organizational and customer needs into platform requirements, measurable outcomes, technical strategies, and delivery plans.
- Influence technical decisions across the AV organization and align senior technical leaders, product stakeholders, and partner teams.
- Contribute to software designs and implementations while supporting requirements generation, design reviews, automated testing, observability, releases, and operational support.
- Improve platform scalability, utilization, fidelity, developer productivity, and cost efficiency through defined metrics and sustained improvements.
- Mentor engineers, strengthen technical communities, and contribute to hiring and talent-development strategies.
- Represent AV HIL Software Platforms in architecture reviews and technical planning forums.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience designing, developing, and delivering production-quality software systems, including leading large or highly complex technical initiatives.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field; a Master’s or PhD is preferred.
- Expert software engineering and systems fundamentals with strong coding ability in Python, C++, or comparable languages.
- Experience defining and executing technical strategy for complex distributed hardware-software systems with broad organizational impact.
- Deep experience designing for scalability, performance, reliability, observability, maintainability, and operational excellence.
- Experience developing and operating software in a Linux environment across the full software development lifecycle.
- Strong understanding of platform and service architecture, APIs, automation, CI/CD, test infrastructure, and production operations.
- Ability to lead through influence, resolve cross-team dependencies, build alignment, and make decisions in ambiguous environments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for explaining architecture, risks, and trade-offs to senior leadership.
- Preferred experience with hardware-in-the-loop, software-in-the-loop, simulation, validation, or large-scale test and integration platforms.
- Preferred experience optimizing complex software on dedicated hardware, including performance profiling, resource management, latency analysis, and capacity planning.
- Preferred experience with ROS or similar robotics architectures, distributed autonomy software, low-latency or safety-critical systems, autonomous vehicles, automotive, robotics, embedded systems, or platform-as-a-service capabilities.
- Preferred experience with Bazel, SQL, test analytics, platform observability, validation insights, engineering standards, governance, roadmaps, architecture reviews, and mentoring senior engineers.

- Expected base compensation is $189,300-$290,000, with additional bonus potential.

- The role is hybrid and requires reporting to a specific location at least three times per week or at another frequency set by the manager.
- Travel is expected to be less than 25%.
