Responsibilities
- Ship ML and AI features for NOS applications supporting site evaluation, red-flag analysis, scheduling, lessons learned, stakeholder work, and project tools.
- Build AI agents and agent workflows that operate against NOS data and tools using MCP interfaces and tool-use frameworks.
- Develop data pipelines and integrations across Palantir Foundry, AWS GovCloud, and other systems, and contribute to the NOS data ontology.
- Build predictive and anomaly-detection models, including time-series analyses of sensor and operational data.
- Own model-quality activities including evaluation criteria, acceptance thresholds, regression suites, issue triage, and root-cause analysis.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a BS program in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related technical field, with plans to return to school afterward.
- Available for the stated full-term internship and able to work onsite in Washington, DC five days per week.
- Strong Python fundamentals and hands-on exposure to ML and LLM tooling such as PyTorch or Hugging Face through coursework or projects.
- Track record of shipping working software or ML projects through coursework, personal projects, internships, or co-ops.
- U.S. Person status, meaning U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency, is required because of export-controlled information and technology.
- Preferred experience includes LLMs and agents, prompting, fine-tuning, retrieval-augmented generation, evaluations, tool use, Palantir Foundry and AIP, AWS or another major cloud platform, exploratory data analysis, large or messy datasets, time-series or sensor data, and MLOps tooling such as MLflow, SageMaker, or Vertex AI.
- Interest in energy, national security, industrial software, or regulated industries is preferred; nuclear engineering familiarity is not required.
