Responsibilities
- Own the multi-year technical vision for Payments, Scheduling, Forms, Business Experience, and Revenue Cycle Management application platforms.
- Drive architectural coherence across multiple teams and resolve cross-system dependencies and platform-level technical debt.
- Lead technical due diligence for major initiatives, including build-versus-buy decisions, vendor evaluations, and platform migrations.
- Identify and solve ambiguous, cross-cutting technical problems spanning organizational boundaries.
- Develop comprehensive solutions with validation, rollback, and testing plans while forecasting time, financial, and opportunity costs.
- Monitor industry trends and lead strategic initiatives for high-scale customer experience and transactional platforms.
- Shape company-wide standards for engineering excellence, observability, and reliability in distributed systems.
- Mentor Staff and Senior Engineers and elevate architectural thinking through design reviews, documentation standards, and hands-on guidance.
Requirements
- 15+ years of software engineering experience with progressive technical leadership scope.
- Track record of leading cross-team technical initiatives with measurable business outcomes.
- Ability to influence without authority, build consensus across organizational boundaries, and communicate technical tradeoffs in business terms.
- Deep distributed systems architecture expertise, including services handling hundreds of millions of transactions and terabytes of data.
- Experience with event streaming and messaging infrastructure such as Kafka or Google Pub/Sub at significant scale.
- Strong experience with relational and NoSQL data stores, including PostgreSQL, Vitess, Spanner, Bigtable, and Redis.
- Operational experience with cloud-native infrastructure on GCP or AWS, including Kubernetes, infrastructure-as-code, and highly available system design.
- Strong backend engineering foundation; Go is preferred, with Python, Java, or C# acceptable.
- Preferred experience in compliance-heavy healthcare or fintech environments and navigating regulatory requirements in technical design.
- Preferred experience shaping AI/ML infrastructure or integrating AI capabilities into production systems.
- Preferred external technical leadership through open source contributions, conference speaking, or published technical writing.
- Preferred expertise in data platform architecture, including streaming pipelines, data lakes, warehouses, or distributed analytics.
