Responsibilities

  • Design and implement LLVM compiler passes for optimization, lowering, and code generation targeting ML accelerator backends.
  • Analyze and improve compiler-generated code through profiling, benchmarking, and performance instrumentation across ML workloads.
  • Develop and maintain LLVM IR transformations that map ML computation graphs to hardware execution units.
  • Collaborate with hardware architecture and ML framework teams to define compiler interfaces and validate generated code on custom silicon.
  • Debug correctness and performance regressions, perform root cause analysis, and deliver targeted compiler fixes.
  • Own technical designs for compiler components while balancing compilation time, runtime performance, and code size.
  • Build automated testing frameworks and benchmarking infrastructure for compiler correctness and performance tracking across hardware generations.
  • Mentor engineers on compiler internals, LLVM architecture, and ML-specific code generation techniques.
  • Partner with ML engineers and researchers to translate model performance requirements into compiler optimization strategies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, a relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience developing compilers or code optimization software, with demonstrated technical leadership.
  • Proficiency in C++ or Rust and experience with large-scale software development, debugging, testing, and performance analysis.
  • Experience with LLVM/MLIR compiler infrastructure or a comparable production compiler codebase such as GCC or MSVC.
  • Track record of designing and delivering significant compiler features or optimization passes end-to-end.
  • Experience driving cross-team technical initiatives, influencing roadmap decisions, and working across hardware, ML frameworks, and runtime systems.
  • Experience developing AI frameworks or accelerating deep learning models on hardware architectures.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and raise the technical bar of a team.
  • Preferred experience with SIMD, GPU, RISC-V, AI accelerators, PyTorch, TensorFlow, LLVM/MLIR projects, deep learning model compilation, graph compilers, accelerator optimization, and machine-code generation.
  • Preferred experience with responsible AI practices and integrating AI tools into workflows.

Benefits

  • Base salary of $154,003/year to $217,000/year, plus bonus, equity, and benefits.
