Responsibilities
- Own the technical direction for Apollo’s most critical and ambiguous problems across team and organizational boundaries.
- Make and remain accountable for multi-year architectural bets affecting the product and platform.
- Set technical strategy for Apollo’s AI- and agent-focused product rebuild and translate it into executable direction.
- Raise engineering standards through technical patterns, decisions, and practices.
- Multiply the output of engineers and teams through design, review, and mentorship of senior engineers.
- Partner with engineering and product leadership on the company’s technology direction.
- Use AI agents for difficult design, investigation, and implementation work and define AI-native engineering practices.
Requirements
- Track record of setting technical direction that shaped a product or platform across an entire engineering organization.
- Deep expertise in distributed systems and architecture, including reliability, scale, and cost tradeoffs.
- Strong judgment under ambiguity and the influence to align multiple teams behind major technical decisions.
- Experience multiplying the effectiveness of senior engineers through technical leadership and mentorship.
- Current fluency in AI-assisted development and a clear perspective on the future impact of AI on engineering.
