Responsibilities
- Build and ship production mobile features with React Native, Expo, TypeScript, and Expo Router.
- Own architecture for state management, data fetching, offline behavior, navigation, and the mobile build and release pipeline.
- Build real-time geospatial experiences and map interactions with MapLibre.
- Improve startup time, animations, lists, memory usage, battery usage, reliability, and crash rates.
- Establish testing with Jest, React Native Testing Library, and Maestro.
- Own production delivery with EAS, including builds, signing, releases, and app store readiness.
- Contribute to backend APIs and establish engineering standards as the team grows.
- Use AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery while maintaining quality.
Requirements
- Several years of professional software engineering experience, including at least two production React Native apps with real users.
- Strong React Native, TypeScript, and Expo experience, including Fabric, TurboModules, and Bridgeless.
- Experience with mobile performance, testing, observability, and production releases.
- Hands-on experience with MapLibre, Mapbox, Google Maps, or comparable mobile mapping technologies.
- Experience owning architecture or major technical decisions.
- Ability to work independently with strong engineering judgment and pragmatic problem-solving.
- University-level technical education in computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
- Eligibility to work in Germany and, where required, for EU/NATO security clearance.
- Preferred experience with Node.js, Bun, Reanimated, Gesture Handler, EAS, Fastlane, mobile CI/CD, geospatial systems, aviation, ADS-B, drones, real-time location, regulated environments, German, React Native or Expo open-source contributions, and AI coding agents.
