Base Salary
$230k - $345k/yr
Responsibilities
- Set the technical direction and make architecture decisions for large-scale recommendation systems.
- Design, build, and operate production ML systems for retrieval, ranking, and multi-objective optimization under low-latency requirements.
- Lead technically demanding projects from initial design through production rollout.
- Partner with applied scientists to transition models from research into reliable, monitored production systems.
- Review designs, mentor engineers, and improve testing, experimentation, monitoring, and system design practices.
- Work with stakeholder teams to translate recommendation needs into shared, reusable infrastructure.
- Identify and resolve tooling, process, and technical-debt issues that slow the team down.
- Participate in on-call, incident response, and debugging systems under load.
Requirements
- Strong track record building and operating large-scale ML systems in production, ideally recommendation, ranking, or personalization systems.
- Experience with modern recommendation systems, including learned embeddings, semantic IDs, sequence models over long user histories, or conversational recommendation systems.
- Deep experience with the full ML engineering lifecycle, including training, deployment, monitoring, data consistency, experimentation, and governance.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals and fluency in Python and/or Scala, or equivalent languages.
- Experience providing technical leadership and making difficult engineering decisions.
- Ability to translate ambiguous business goals into concrete technical priorities.
- Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with distributed systems, Spark, or similar large-scale data processing tools is preferred.
