Responsibilities
- Design, build, test, and support modern applications, APIs, services, integrations, and digital capabilities.
- Own software solutions from design through production and ongoing support.
- Contribute to technology platform modernization and new digital capabilities.
- Apply engineering practices involving automated testing, code review, CI/CD, observability, security, and maintainability.
- Use AI-assisted development tools for coding, testing, review, documentation, deployment, and troubleshooting.
- Identify practical opportunities to embed AI into software delivery while maintaining human oversight and engineering standards.
- Collaborate with developers, business analysts, testers, infrastructure and security teams, and technology partners.
- Share AI and software engineering knowledge across the wider development team.
Requirements
- 10+ years of software development experience, ideally in modern web-based development environments.
- Strong experience with C#/.NET, JavaScript/TypeScript, and modern web frameworks.
- Experience building modern applications, REST APIs, integrations, and distributed or event-driven systems.
- Strong experience with Azure, SQL, and relational databases.
- Demonstrated ability to design maintainable, modular, production-ready software.
- Experience with automated testing, Git, code reviews, and CI/CD.
- Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools for solution design, coding, testing, documentation, code review, and troubleshooting.
- Experience developing secure cloud applications, including authentication, authorization, and appropriate handling of sensitive data.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience introducing AI-assisted engineering practices, Azure DevOps, GitHub, event-driven architecture, or messaging-based integrations is preferred.
- Experience in insurance, financial services, or other regulated or customer-facing environments is preferred.
- Ability to distinguish appropriate AI use cases from situations requiring traditional engineering approaches and to turn ambiguous problems into maintainable solutions.
