Responsibilities
- Lead development teams through all phases of the Agile development life cycle.
- Develop new features and own delivery outcomes across analysis, design, development, deployment, optimization, and daily operations.
- Coach and mentor engineers through pair programming, code reviews, and AI-assisted development practices.
- Collaborate with software developers, UX designers, product managers, application architects, and customer application experts.
- Champion responsible use of GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor, and related AI coding workflows, including data handling, PII protection, intellectual property compliance, and code provenance.
- Ensure compliance with architecture, security, and technology standards.
- Analyze production defects, conduct root-cause analysis, troubleshoot systems, implement fixes, and contribute to incident reports.
- Provide periodic 24x7 on-call support.
- Improve engineering efficiency and system performance, including by piloting AI tools and agentic workflows.
- Work with third-party vendors to develop software and integrate vendor software into Synchrony products.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of full-stack development experience with a strong JavaScript focus, particularly React, or 7 years of equivalent experience in lieu of a degree.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field plus 5+ years of software development, design, and architecture experience, or equivalent experience as permitted by the posting.
- Proven track record as a tech lead or senior individual contributor.
- Hands-on experience using at least one AI coding assistant in a regular development workflow.
- Proficiency in TypeScript, JavaScript, React, Redux, Styled-Components, and RTL or Cypress.
- Familiarity with RAG patterns, vector databases, MCP, and agent orchestration.
- Awareness of open-source AI tooling including Continue.dev, Aider, Cline, and Ollama.
- Experience building or customizing AI agents or skills with LLM APIs such as OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, or Azure OpenAI.
- Strong testing knowledge and a commitment to testing.
- Knowledge of technology trends, application/data/infrastructure architecture, and software development best practices.
- Ability to work collaboratively, operate autonomously, and contribute to FinTech initiatives; startup or consulting experience is desired.
