Responsibilities

  • Create, develop, and validate machine learning models.
  • Explore, develop, deploy, and implement machine learning and AI solutions for Milwaukee Tool products.
  • Apply machine learning algorithms and techniques including supervised and unsupervised learning, classification, regression, dimensionality reduction, and model optimization.
  • Develop and debug Python code and, preferably, code in embedded environments using C or C++.
  • Develop and deploy machine learning algorithms to edge environments.
  • Develop robust MLOps pipelines and support efficient monitoring and scaling of ML models.
  • Collaborate with highly cross-functional teams and communicate technical information effectively.
  • Own projects and tasks while understanding their relationships to broader initiatives.
  • Travel up to 10% domestically and internationally.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or another scientific or engineering discipline.
  • Completed coursework or specialization in Machine Learning and/or Data Science.
  • At least one year of hands-on experience applying machine learning principles and algorithms involving embedded systems, edge computing, signal processing, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated non-coursework experience applying fundamental machine learning algorithms and techniques.
  • Experience with machine learning and AI methods such as CNNs, transformers, or computer vision.
  • Proficiency developing and debugging Python code, including common libraries such as NumPy, pandas, scikit-learn, and Matplotlib.
  • Proficiency with at least one deep learning framework such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
  • Strong foundation in statistics, linear algebra, calculus, and optimization.
  • Experience with modern software development and version control tools.
  • Strong problem-solving, critical-thinking, technical communication, project management, and ownership skills.
  • Preferred: Master’s degree or PhD in Machine Learning or a related field.
  • Preferred: At least three years of relevant hands-on machine learning experience; an advanced degree may count toward some experience.
  • Preferred: Experience with time-series modeling and domains such as NLP, SLAM, forecasting, or audio/video processing.
  • Preferred: Experience developing, deploying, and implementing AI or ML solutions connected to business objectives.
  • Preferred: Experience with C or C++ in embedded environments.
  • Preferred: Knowledge of IMU, thermistor, magnetic, and optical sensors and interfacing with microcontrollers.
  • Preferred: Knowledge of embedded hardware and software architecture, microcontroller design and operation, and data collection methods.
  • Preferred: Experience developing and deploying ML algorithms to edge environments and building robust MLOps pipelines.
