Responsibilities
- Build and maintain automation for deploying, upgrading, and operating Cloud Foundry foundations across multiple data centers.
- Own large technical initiatives from planning through delivery and enable team execution.
- Modernize infrastructure-as-code and platform pipelines to reduce technical debt and improve upgrade and promotion reliability.
- Partner with infrastructure providers on hardware refreshes, capacity migrations, and other platform-impacting changes.
- Plan and execute environment teardowns, rebuilds, and other high-risk production changes with minimal disruption.
- Expand Kubernetes platform engineering ownership and translate Cloud Foundry operational practices to Kubernetes.
- Mentor junior engineers and interns through pairing, code reviews, and troubleshooting support.
- Contribute to retrospectives, design discussions, production code, code reviews, and platform security and controls.
Requirements
- Hands-on expertise installing, upgrading, and troubleshooting Cloud Foundry foundations at scale, including open-source Cloud Foundry or VMware Tanzu Application Service.
- Proficiency writing and debugging BOSH releases, manifests, and ops files.
- Proficiency building, maintaining, and operating Concourse pipelines.
- Working knowledge of Kubernetes, including workloads or clusters and core concepts.
- Experience using Terraform for infrastructure as code.
- Strong programming skills in at least one of Go, Python, or shell scripting.
- Strong Linux troubleshooting skills and experience with production platform design, automation, testing, and operational stability.
- Ability to independently carry design problems through delivery with minimal oversight.
- Demonstrated experience mentoring engineers and raising team capability.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, including explaining technical tradeoffs to audiences outside the team.
- Preferred qualifications include Cloud Foundry-to-Kubernetes migration experience, Kubernetes certification such as CKA or CKAD, Kubernetes ecosystem tooling experience, and PKI or certificate-rotation experience.
