Base Salary

$121k - $213k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Own small, well-bounded projects end to end, including requirements clarification, design, development, testing, shipping, and follow-up.
  • Build and maintain ingestion and reconciliation pipeline features that match card-network and partner reports against internal transaction data.
  • Contribute to tooling for end-to-end traceability of money across the system.
  • Develop accurate, reliable, timely, scalable, and user-friendly reporting and reconciliation features for finance teams and merchants.
  • Produce standardized journals and summaries for downstream accounting, audit, and analysis.
  • Contribute to US IRS information-return systems, including the 1099 family, and international reporting such as EU CESOP and country-specific reporting for Australia, Ireland, and Spain.
  • Support AML, KYC, TIN validation, secure form generation and filing, and other regulatory and compliance obligations involving sensitive and PII data.
  • Validate work through code review, tests, experiments, usage signals, and additional validation of AI-assisted changes.
  • Debug and escalate production issues across services while documenting changes, timing, implementation, and remaining risks.
  • Collaborate with engineers, product managers, data analysts, and finance, tax, and compliance partners on technical design and product decisions.
  • Review peers' work, incorporate feedback, document learnings, and improve systems through automation when appropriate.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of professional software or data engineering experience.
  • A bachelor's degree in a technical field such as Computer Science, Engineering, or Mathematics, or equivalent technical experience.
  • Experience building or maintaining batch- or event-driven data pipelines and exposure to workflow orchestration technologies such as Airflow, Temporal, or Spark.
  • Working understanding of distributed systems and proficiency in at least one major programming language, such as Java, Python, or Go, plus solid SQL skills.
  • Experience delivering well-scoped projects or features through design, build, test, ship, and operate stages with guidance from more experienced engineers.
  • Strong communication skills, including surfacing concerns with concrete proposals and providing clear debugging and escalation context.
  • Care for maintainable and testable code, code review, CI/CD, and observability in a complex financial environment.
  • Proficiency with AI tools throughout the software development lifecycle and judgment to validate their output.
  • Preferred exposure to financial, tax, regulatory, or payments reporting and reconciliation products.
  • Preferred familiarity with merchants, acquirers, card networks, issuers, processors, authorization, clearing, settlement, card-network settlement file formats, or ISO-8583.
  • Preferred understanding of accounting principles, double-entry bookkeeping, and financial reconciliation processes.
  • Preferred experience with cloud data warehouses, distributed data systems, cloud platforms, Kubernetes, and infrastructure-as-code.
