Responsibilities
- Architect and design flagship metadata software solutions using a platform-first approach focused on scale, consistency, and reliability.
- Drive engineering technology, practices, standards, and long-term technical vision for assigned teams and platforms.
- Translate business requirements into concrete technical roadmaps in partnership with Product.
- Participate in hands-on development for up to 60% of the role, creating modules and systems that demonstrate engineering best practices.
- Design cross-system integrations across ingestion, processing, and data delivery.
- Own platform architecture, scaling, performance, quality, and technology and tool choices.
- Establish engineering standards covering coding guidelines, API contracts, security protocols, and design standards.
- Drive technology forums and adoption of relevant technologies while measuring business and engineering impact.
- Mentor and guide senior engineers and foster a culture of learning and collaboration.
- Collaborate with Data Science, DevOps, and Frontend architects to support emerging backend infrastructure needs.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 13+ years of professional experience in software development.
- Experience designing, developing, and scaling enterprise-grade applications, including solutions built from scratch.
- In-depth knowledge of messaging queue concepts and proficiency with Java or Python frameworks such as Spring and Hibernate.
- Experience with RESTful APIs and microservices architecture.
- Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript is a plus.
- Working knowledge of machine learning and data science concepts.
- Strong understanding of application development, infrastructure management, data engineering, platform constructs, and SQL and NoSQL datastores.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes containerization technologies.
- Knowledge of CI/CD tools and practices, test-driven development, and automated testing frameworks.
- Understanding of software development methodologies such as Agile and Scrum.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, interpersonal, independent-working, and teamwork abilities.
