Responsibilities
- Own and deliver quarterly goals for the Recoveries team while leading engineers through ambiguous, open-ended problems.
- Collaborate with product management, design, analytics, and risk teams on ideation, technical constraints, risks, and trade-offs.
- Identify and lead resolution of project, process, technology, and business issues.
- Support artifact availability through metrics, escalation, keep-the-lights-on work, and on-call efforts.
- Set and improve code review and design standards and advocate for them through writing and technical talks.
- Develop team talent through feedback, guidance, and technical leadership.
- Build recovery strategies and manage loans through the final phase of their lifecycle.
Requirements
- 4+ years of software engineering experience.
- Experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale using technologies such as Python, Kotlin, AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
- Experience shipping web applications with declarative UI frameworks such as React or Vue.
- Experience designing, implementing, and operating batch processing or asynchronous workloads, including scheduled jobs, backfills, and large-scale data processing.
- Strong focus on correctness, observability, and failure handling.
- Ability to define technical plans for significant features or system components and produce simple, extensible, high-quality code.
- Proficiency making significant changes safely in large codebases.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with a global engineering team.
- Willingness to participate in a required on-call rotation.
