Team Lead Backend Engineer (Core Applications)

Base Salary
$200k - $240k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of APIs exposing go-to-market data to internal and external users.
- Own end-to-end architecture for large-scale data access patterns, optimizing performance, cost, and reliability.
- Collaborate with AI, data, and frontend teams on integrations and API contracts.
- Address API versioning, rate limiting, authentication, query complexity, and cache invalidation.
- Build internal tooling to improve backend engineering velocity and observability.
- Drive engineering best practices, code quality, and testing.
- Mentor engineers and set the team’s technical direction.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of backend engineering experience, ideally with high-scale systems exposure.
- Deep experience with modern backend stacks including Node.js, ClickHouse, and AWS.
- Strong understanding of API design, query optimization, and distributed systems.
- Experience managing large-scale data systems measured in terabytes, including performance, cost, and uptime.
- Ability to own ambiguous problems, architect solutions, and deliver results in a fast-paced startup environment.
- Commitment to working in person five days per week at the San Francisco headquarters.
