Base Salary
$184k - $233k/yr
Responsibilities
- Architect, design, and build scalable production-grade backend services running on AWS.
- Define the technical direction of the cloud platform, including service architecture, infrastructure patterns, and operational standards.
- Develop and maintain Node.js and other backend services through design, deployment, and production support.
- Design and implement infrastructure-as-code with AWS CDK and own the infrastructure lifecycle.
- Design PostgreSQL schemas, optimize query performance, and make data architecture decisions.
- Build frontend applications with React and MUI and contribute to React Native applications for Android and iOS.
- Develop software in JavaScript/Node.js, Python, Rust, and C/C++ as appropriate.
- Establish engineering standards for code quality, testing, reliability, and security through hands-on leadership.
- Evaluate emerging technologies, prototype solutions, and make build-versus-buy recommendations.
- Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, and production incident response with shared accountability.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent depth of practical experience.
- 12+ years of software engineering experience building and operating cloud-based distributed systems at scale.
- Deep production expertise with Node.js, React, and MUI.
- Mastery of distributed systems, microservices architecture, and cloud-native design patterns.
- Deep knowledge of AWS and hands-on experience writing, testing, and maintaining AWS CDK scripts.
- Expertise in IP networking, including TCP/IP and related protocols.
- High proficiency across backend, frontend, infrastructure, and deployment work.
- Demonstrated ability to make independent architectural decisions and influence technical direction.
- Strong problem-solving, trade-off analysis, communication, and delivery skills.
- Preferred experience with large-scale real-time cloud platforms, IoT or device-integrated systems, data-intensive systems, CI/CD, automated deployments, infrastructure automation, performance tuning, observability, operational excellence, and small high-performance engineering teams.
