Responsibilities
- Design and build scalable, maintainable software solutions for the GrabX experimentation platform.
- Deliver well-tested code and uphold engineering standards through design, architecture, and code reviews.
- Collaborate with product, design, and backend teams to translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Improve system performance, reliability, observability, and engineering quality through optimization and refactoring.
- Troubleshoot production issues, participate in on-call rotations, and own incident response and resolution.
- Use data, instrumentation, and experimentation to improve technical decisions, customer experience, and business outcomes.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team development and knowledge sharing.
- Stay current with industry practices and technologies and bring new ideas to the team.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience building production systems at scale.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals, system design, architecture, and scalability expertise.
- Proficiency in modern languages such as Go, Sparks, or Java, along with relevant frameworks.
- Experience building and maintaining complex distributed systems at scale.
- Knowledge of performance optimization, reliability, testing, and debugging best practices.
- Experience designing and integrating APIs and backend services.
- Understanding of secure coding and security-first system design.
- Ability to solve ambiguous problems with pragmatic, high-quality solutions.
- Strong collaboration skills and a product mindset focused on user experience and customer needs.
- Experience with experimentation, instrumentation, and data-informed development.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Ability to explain technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience mentoring junior engineers and supporting team development.
- Preferred experience with database design and optimization, microservices, or containerization.
- Preferred background in payments, FinTech, authentication, or other high-trust products.
- Open-source contributions or technical thought leadership are preferred.
- Preferred experience with a relational database such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Oracle.
