Responsibilities
- Operate and optimize Amazon ECS deployments for JLV backend microservices.
- Configure scaling, task definitions, health checks, load balancing, and blue/green deployment strategies.
- Implement Infrastructure as Code and maintain CI/CD pipelines for containerized microservices.
- Automate build, testing, security scanning, deployment, verification, rollback, configuration, database updates, and post-deployment validation.
- Support multi-region high availability, disaster recovery, backup, restore, outage recovery, and incident response in AWS GovCloud.
- Build and maintain monitoring, logging, alerting, notification, and observability systems.
- Implement IAM and security controls supporting FedRAMP High, NIST 800-53, FISMA, and VA compliance requirements.
- Support continuous monitoring, audits, remediation, production issue triage, service reliability improvements, and release validation.
- Develop operational runbooks, deployment guides, architecture documentation, and production readiness materials.
- Partner with backend, product, security, and operations teams and guide releases through VA governance processes.
Requirements
- Experience operating containerized microservices on AWS ECS.
- Strong understanding of container orchestration, service scaling, load balancing, and health monitoring.
- Proficiency with AWS CLI and production cloud operations.
- Experience designing and supporting enterprise CI/CD pipelines.
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code practices and automation frameworks.
- Working knowledge of FedRAMP High, NIST 800-53, FISMA, and government cloud compliance requirements.
- Experience with observability solutions, incident response processes, and SRE practices.
- Strong understanding of AWS networking, IAM, security groups, and multi-region disaster recovery architectures.
- Experience with AWS GovCloud environments is an additional qualification.
- Familiarity with VA Enterprise Cloud architecture, deployment governance, operational readiness reviews, and production operations management is preferred.
- Experience supporting healthcare applications or clinical viewer platforms and integrating with VA or DoD healthcare systems is preferred.
- Knowledge of VIP lifecycle processes and associated release documentation is preferred.
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance or higher is required.
- Candidates must reside within the continental United States.
