Site Reliability Engineer III (SRE) - Guidewire Cloud Platform (Application)
Guidewire SoftwareResponsibilities
- Troubleshoot and resolve application and distributed-system issues while minimizing customer impact.
- Develop automated runbooks and apply software engineering and automation to reduce operational toil.
- Monitor and improve application reliability, performance, scalability, and service levels.
- Design and implement SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets, along with monitors, dashboards, and synthetic transactions.
- Deploy and manage scalable infrastructure using AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, and cloud-native approaches.
- Document incidents, improve operational processes, and participate in mandatory on-call rotations, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Requirements
- Experience as an SRE or in a similar system-reliability-focused role.
- Software engineering experience with Python, Go, or Java and the ability to write clean, testable code.
- Experience with SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, application performance monitoring, telemetry, automation, and performance optimization.
- Experience troubleshooting distributed systems on cloud infrastructure and working with CI/CD pipelines in Kubernetes and legacy ecosystems.
- Experience with Datadog or similar monitoring tools, AWS and Kubernetes infrastructure, Terraform, and configuration-management tools such as Puppet or Ansible.
- Understanding of cloud networking, security, and vulnerability management, including programmatic remediation of infrastructure issues.
- Preferred qualifications include SRE or AWS certification, SQL and database administration experience, data pipelines, performance tuning, schema design, and familiarity with TeamCity, Bitbucket Pipelines, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Hadoop, Apache Spark, or AWS Redshift.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, collaboration, documentation, and continuous-learning skills.
