Responsibilities
- Prepare technical design specifications and written knowledge-transfer materials.
- Review functional requirements, analysis, and design documents and provide feedback.
- Implement, test, maintain, and support software based on technical specifications.
- Lead architecture, design, and implementation of robust, scalable web services.
- Improve system quality by identifying issues and patterns and developing standard operating procedures.
- Enhance and maintain existing applications and codebases and review peer code changes.
- Participate in architecture and code reviews and investigate relevant new technologies.
- Collaborate with colleagues, product stakeholders, and customer support to resolve technical issues.
- Provide technical leadership, mentor less experienced developers, and make independent decisions.
- Lead or participate in cloud, DevOps, AI modernization, and other engineering initiatives.
- Translate AI innovation, LLMs, automation, and engineering toolchains into business and productivity improvements.
Requirements
- At least 12 years of Java full-stack development or Java Enterprise Edition experience.
- At least 10 years of experience developing systems or software for large business environments and mission-critical, low-latency solutions.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; a master's degree is preferred.
- Strong object-oriented design and service-oriented architecture principles with implementation experience, preferably in Java.
- Strong experience leading architecture, design, and implementation of robust, highly scalable web services.
- At least 5 years of experience developing and debugging distributed systems and working with cloud-based big data systems.
- Experience with AWS and/or Azure SaaS infrastructure, CI/CD and DevOps technologies, and extensive debugging.
- Understanding of unit, test-driven, functional, and performance testing.
- Experience with React is preferred.
- Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL database systems and data architecture.
- Experience integrating with event buses such as Pulsar and cloud-based big data solutions such as Snowflake is preferred.
- Experience with software security-enhancing tools and practices and at least one shell scripting language.
- Understanding of big data and machine learning technologies, LLMs, automation, and engineering toolchains.
- Proven experience leading cloud, DevOps, or AI modernization initiatives.
- Strong communication, presentation, facilitation, organizational, interpersonal, cross-functional collaboration, and decision-making skills.
