Responsibilities
- Own an impactful technical project related to autonomy, active safety, robotics, perception, embedded controls, or vehicle systems.
- Develop, integrate, test, and demonstrate software and engineering capabilities on real vehicles, test benches, or simulation environments.
- Develop and evaluate computer vision and machine learning capabilities, including object detection, tracking, and vision-language models.
- Integrate sensors and computing platforms, including cameras, LiDAR, radar, GPS/IMU, and high-performance edge computing hardware.
- Support embedded vehicle-control and unmanned-vehicle systems development for autonomy and active-safety applications.
- Develop or test software using Python, C/C++, MATLAB/Simulink, or other engineering tools.
- Work with vehicle networks and systems such as CAN, powertrain, braking, and steering.
- Collaborate with software, systems, controls, electrical, mechanical, and hardware engineers to integrate vehicle capabilities.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and commercial solutions for real-world applications.
- Perform engineering calculations, analysis, design, testing, and troubleshooting.
- Present project results and technical recommendations to engineering teams and stakeholders.
Requirements
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- Undergraduate applicants must have at least sophomore standing at the time of application.
- Programming experience with Python, C/C++, or a similar programming language through coursework, research, personal projects, or previous work experience.
- Ability to work at least 12 weeks beginning in late May or early June through August.
- Experience or interest in autonomy, robotics, active safety systems, computer vision, machine learning, perception, ROS2, Linux-based robotics, embedded software, microcontrollers, MATLAB, Simulink, vehicle networks, control systems, sensor integration, or simulation environments is preferred.
- Hands-on development, experimentation, and testing with real systems is preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to work through ambiguity are preferred.
