Responsibilities
- Build, enhance, and maintain native Android applications using Kotlin across Expedia Group brands.
- Design and implement mobile low-level designs, APIs, and data models that integrate with backend services and shared platforms.
- Write and review code, unit tests, UI tests, and other automated tests while supporting continuous integration and delivery.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to refine requirements and deliver features iteratively.
- Estimate engineering work, push changes to production, and triage production issues.
- Improve mobile application performance, reliability, security, accessibility, and scalability.
- Safely integrate AI/ML-enabled solutions such as personalization, recommendations, and automated insights while respecting privacy and security standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience in professional software development.
- Experience building and shipping production Android applications using Kotlin, including ownership of features or services within a larger mobile application.
- Ability to design and implement mobile low-level designs, APIs, and data models and work with service-oriented or microservices-based backends.
- Proficiency with Android development tools and practices, including version control, testing frameworks, debugging, performance optimization, and continuous integration and delivery pipelines.
- Preferred experience with Jetpack libraries, Jetpack Compose, Coroutines/Flows, Android Studio, and Gradle.
- Preferred experience diagnosing mobile performance and reliability issues using profiling or monitoring tools.
- Preferred ability to define and implement unit, UI, snapshot, and integration test strategies.
- Awareness of Android accessibility and inclusive design practices, including TalkBack, touch targets, and contrast.
- Experience collaborating in cross-functional Agile teams and communicating progress, risks, and trade-offs.
- Familiarity with AI-driven systems, AI/ML concepts, and AI-powered coding or productivity tools.
