Responsibilities
- Develop Java and PL/SQL changes for an ecommerce payments gateway.
- Review payment-processing processes, production data, product code, and payments-industry specifications to scope and specify work.
- Participate in code reviews and pair with other engineers to improve team capability and code quality.
- Partner with test engineers to define test coverage and contribute to automated integration and system tests.
- Design rollout and monitoring approaches for new features.
- Provide periodic out-of-hours support for release deployments through a rota.
Requirements
- Experience delivering software in precision-critical industries and solving complex business problems.
- Knowledge of Java or a related object-oriented programming language.
- Knowledge of object-oriented design patterns and SOLID development principles.
- Ability to write code that interacts effectively with large databases.
- Knowledge of SQL-based database systems, ideally Oracle or a similar platform.
- Experience working with very large codebases and version-control systems.
- Experience using Linux in development and production environments.
- Financial-services knowledge, familiarity with Scrum, Kanban, or SAFe, cloud-technology experience, and enterprise compute, storage, or networking knowledge are bonuses.
