
Principle Software Engineer – Embedded Systems

Responsibilities
- Design, develop, review, test, and maintain embedded software products.
- Develop embedded C and C++ software, firmware, and low-level drivers for connected electrical products.
- Integrate software and firmware with hardware components, sensors, and peripherals.
- Implement and optimize Ethernet, Modbus, wireless, and other communication protocols.
- Develop test plans to verify and validate embedded systems.
- Debug and resolve software and hardware issues using JTAG debuggers, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and related techniques.
- Optimize code and algorithms for memory efficiency, processing efficiency, and system performance.
- Create and maintain code comments, user guides, design materials, and other documentation.
- Implement security features and follow relevant safety standards.
- Collaborate with hardware engineers, quality assurance, product managers, and solution architects in design reviews and project meetings.
- Stay current with embedded development trends, technologies, and best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electronics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 15+ years of embedded firmware or software development experience.
- Proficiency in Embedded C and experience with C++.
- Experience with RTOS or Linux-based development and familiarity with multithreading concepts.
- Familiarity with 8-bit and 16-bit microcontrollers and peripheral integration.
- Experience with coding standards and working with engineering teams.
- Knowledge of communication protocols including HTTPS, SNMP, SMTP, BACnet, and Modbus/TCP is preferred.
- Experience with JTAG debugging, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, repository management tools, Jira, and static analysis tools.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal, and communication skills.
