Base Salary
$125k - $156k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain data products for R&D and scientific workflows.
- Build and maintain data pipelines for large datasets.
- Apply genetics and bioinformatics knowledge to design data models.
- Design privacy-preserving architectures that meet regulatory requirements.
- Maintain high standards of data quality and observability.
- Collaborate with R&D scientists and software engineers.
- Optimize storage and lifecycle management for scientific files.
- Drive rapid prototyping for exploratory initiatives.
- Implement best practices for data quality and reproducibility.
- Translate requirements into technical solutions with product managers.
- Establish templates and contribute to shared data product catalogs.
- Provide mentorship to mid-level engineers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science or bioinformatics.
- 8+ years of experience in data engineering and cloud data architectures.
- Strong background in bioinformatics, genomics, or computational biology.
- Experience supporting scientific R&D with production-grade data systems.
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, and distributed processing frameworks.
- Experience with modern orchestration tools like Airflow or dbt.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools.
- Strong data modeling expertise.
- Experience implementing CI/CD for data pipelines.
- Ability to evaluate emerging data and AI technologies.
- Strong communication skills for collaboration across teams.
- Experience with healthcare or regulated data, including HIPAA compliance.
