Responsibilities
- Design, develop, launch, and maintain backend systems that support Affirm Card Checkout and in-app card experiences.
- Break larger projects into tasks, deliver work in phases, and collaborate with teammates and stakeholders.
- Partner with product management, design, and analytics on ideation, technical constraints, risks, and trade-offs.
- Create and monitor operational metrics, escalate issues, and participate in keep-the-lights-on and on-call efforts.
- Participate in interviews and other team growth and development activities.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of software engineering experience.
- Experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems.
- Proficiency in Python or Kotlin.
- Familiarity with distributed systems, AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
- Ability to write clear, high-quality, well-tested, extensible code and navigate large codebases.
- Experience debugging code, conducting code reviews, and translating business problems into solutions spanning multiple software components.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and a proactive approach to professional growth.
