Base Salary
$149k - $350k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead development of early-phase AI systems that enhance user experience.
- Develop systems to measure and improve AI performance and relevance.
- Direct Figma’s AI efforts in collaboration with software engineers, product managers, and data scientists.
- Break down open-ended AI problems into engineering strategies using machine learning, data analysis, and experimental design.
- Provide mentorship and promote best practices in data and AI.
- Improve the hiring process and recruit outstanding AI talent.
- Lead AI efforts from inception through implementation, productionization, and maintenance.
Requirements
- 5+ years of software engineering experience.
- 1 or more years of experience developing generative AI products.
- Experience prototyping and pathfinding opportunities that led to successful 0-to-1 projects.
- Experience implementing the full lifecycle of early-phase AI development, including model selection, productionization, and maintenance.
- Ability to connect modeling and analysis tasks with product and business value.
- Preferred expertise in AI indexing, retrieval systems, personalization, and/or natural language processing.
- Preferred experience planning multi-year roadmaps that connect short-term projects to a long-term vision.
- A relevant advanced degree in machine learning, artificial intelligence, statistics, or a related field is preferred.
- Preferred experience mentoring and aligning senior engineers across organizations.
