Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, maintain, secure, and automate an enterprise Azure API management platform and related infrastructure.
  • Develop and manage enterprise-grade APIs, including REST APIs, API versioning, lifecycle management, governance, policies, and integrations.
  • Implement authentication, authorization, rate limiting, throttling, transformations, caching, filtering, and other API management policies.
  • Apply OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT validation, certificate-based authentication, Microsoft Entra ID integration, Zero Trust, and least-privilege controls.
  • Build CI/CD pipelines and automate API deployment, configuration, testing, policy management, and infrastructure using infrastructure as code.
  • Monitor API health, performance, reliability, and scalability; develop dashboards, alerts, and automated reporting.
  • Support production incidents and root cause analysis while collaborating with application, architecture, security, and DevOps teams.
  • Document engineering decisions, drive technical initiatives, and contribute to knowledge sharing in a global distributed engineering environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of API engineering or cloud development experience.
  • Strong experience with enterprise API management solutions, API gateways, REST APIs, cloud-native development, security, automation, and integration patterns.
  • Experience with API specifications using OpenAPI/Swagger and familiarity with service mesh concepts.
  • Experience implementing OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT validation, certificate-based authentication, API security assessments, and vulnerability remediation.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, ARM Templates, Bicep, and Terraform for CI/CD and infrastructure as code.
  • Experience integrating APIs with Azure Entra ID, Azure Functions, Azure App Service, Azure Service Bus, Azure Event Grid, Azure Storage, and Azure Key Vault.
  • Experience with Azure API Management, Azure Application Gateway, and Ambassador Gateway.
  • Azure certifications such as Azure Developer Associate, Azure Administrator Associate, Azure DevOps Engineer Expert, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or Azure Security Engineer Associate are preferred.
  • Experience with gRPC, event-driven APIs, financial services, regulated environments, change management, security audits, or large-scale enterprise cloud platforms is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently, communicate clearly, document decisions, collaborate effectively, and focus on delivery and operational excellence.
