Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end architecture across web, mobile, services, data, integrations, security, and Azure deployment topology.
- Lead the architecture, delivery, release, and ongoing operation of an offline-first mobile application for field representatives and clinical staff.
- Own application security, including authorization, secrets and key management, encryption, dependency and vulnerability management, and audit logging.
- Lead the product roadmap covering inventory tracking, loaner and consignment management, notifications, scheduling, and inventory-control tooling.
- Design and own integrations with ERP, PLM, identity, reporting/BI, surgical planning, and navigation platforms.
- Provide technical leadership to offshore and contract engineering resources through standards, design reviews, code reviews, and delivery accountability.
- Establish branching, CI/CD, automated testing, environment management, release, documentation, runbook, and architecture decision processes.
- Partner with commercial, operations, quality, and executive stakeholders on technical roadmaps and build-versus-buy decisions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is required.
- 10+ years of experience building and shipping production software and 3+ years in an architect or technical lead capacity.
- Demonstrated ownership of production mobile applications on iOS and Android using React Native or a comparable cross-platform framework.
- Experience owning a business-critical enterprise application serving hundreds of users and transactional workloads.
- Experience integrating with ERP and enterprise systems of record.
- Experience leading distributed and/or contract engineering teams to delivery commitments.
- Practical knowledge of offline-first mobile architecture, including local persistence, background synchronization, conflict resolution, and graceful degradation on poor connectivity.
- Preferred experience includes medical device, life sciences, or other regulated-industry software, including 21 CFR Part 820, ISO 13485, or IEC 62304.
- Preferred domain exposure includes orthopedics, surgical workflow, field inventory, consignment, or medical device distribution.
- Preferred experience stabilizing and scaling a platform inherited from contractors or a departed team.
- Knowledge of mobile device management, enterprise app distribution, and app store release processes is preferred.
