Responsibilities
- Define architectural direction and oversee implementation of large-scale, cross-functional projects and initiatives.
- Drive improvements to development processes, code quality standards, and engineering best practices across teams.
- Participate in technical decisions affecting long-term strategic direction and scalability.
- Mentor team members and support professional development and knowledge sharing.
- Design expressive, user-friendly APIs for developers using Mapbox SDKs.
- Develop high-quality features with peers and cross-functional teams.
- Implement improvements to SDK functionality and developer experience.
- Work on cross-platform framework implementations to ensure seamless integration and functionality.
- Debug, profile, and optimize performance issues.
- Integrate Mapbox Navigation, Maps, and Search SDKs for efficient customer application deployment.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience shipping complex Android applications and SDKs.
- Experience with native Android technologies including Kotlin and Java.
- Experience with testing methodologies and frameworks.
- Ability or willingness to work deeply in the Android stack and navigate AOSP code when needed.
- Focus on usability and user experience, developer tools, learning, teaching, and customer trust.
- Experience debugging and profiling performance issues is a plus.
- Familiarity with or willingness to learn C++ is a plus.
